| "Hurricane" is the debut album of newcomer and singer/songwriter Stacy Grubb. Stacy's sound blends elements of bluegrass, country, pop, soul, and gospel, all of which can be heard on this one project. Produced by Nashville veteran, Ronnie Cochran for RC Productions, "Hurricane" features an all-star lineup of musicians heavily sought after in country and bluegrass music (and beyond), including Brent Mason, Rob Ickes, Aubrey Haynie, Ron Block, and the sensational duo, Dailey & Vincent. Nine of the album's twelve all-new tracks were written by Stacy, with two, including the title track, being written by Stacy's dad Alan "Cathead" Johnston, and one offering from songwriter Gary Dunham. "Hurricane" was recorded at legendary Hill Top Recording Studios (Nashville, TN) in early 2009 and was released April 28th of the same year. Its first single, "Baby Dear," was featured on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass, Volume 99. Stacy has released two singles to the European Country Music Market ("Hurricane" and "Runaway Train") and is enjoying great radio play with both and has made her way onto the Pan-European Country Music Chart. The year 2009 saw lots of exciting things for Stacy, including appearing alongside bluegrass All-Star Don Rigsby at his annual Homecoming where she also sang with country singer Bobby Cyrus and shared the stage with JD Crowe, Lou Reid, James King, Mike Bub, Aubrey Haynie, and others. In addition, Stacy was chosen by the IBMA Board to be a showcase artist, hosting her own room in which Ron Block and Sierra Hull also did a showcase, during IBMA Week 2009. Thanks to the wonderful support of DJ's from around the world, Stacy's audience is growing to expand beyond the borders of the US and even more exciting things are shaping up for 2010. |
